When Toys Become Treasures: Mila, Zoey, and the Beloved Kettlebell

There’s something heart-melting about the way dogs bond with their toys. Not just tossing them in the air or chasing them across the yard—but quietly cuddling with them like prized possessions.

This week in our home, Mila and Zoey reminded us how sweet and soulful that bond can be.

Earlier in the day, I walked into the room and spotted Mila—calm, content, and curled up around her green kettlebell-shaped chew toy like it was her best friend. It wasn’t just a nap. It was a moment of peace, her paw gently cradling that toy like a toddler hugging a teddy bear.

Hours later, Zoey had claimed the same toy. She’d found her own cozy corner, clutching it just as affectionately. No growling, no drama. Just pure, peaceful toy-sharing between two incredible shepherds.

It’s funny how some toys become instant favorites. Not just because they squeak or bounce, but because they somehow offer comfort. To them, it’s not “just a toy”—it’s a companion.

If your pup is anything like ours, they might love this kind of sturdy-yet-huggable toy too. We find that our dogs really gravitate towards toys that have handles.
